JUNCTION CITY - Mayor G.G. Harmon's heart is still ticking. Today is the 16th anniversary of his heart transplant recovery. He wants to celebrate by reminding people to become organ donors.
About 4,000 people await heart transplants annually, but usually only 2,200 donors become available, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
To become a donor in Kentucky, residents can sign the back of their driver's license and then have a witness sign. Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates encourage donors to share their decision with their families.
