HARRODSBURG - Old Fort Harrod State Park is hosting its annual Holiday Gala Friday and Saturday.
Several of the decorations for the Festival of Trees in the 19th-century Victorian Mansion Museum already are in place. A new tree this year has been decorated with hand-crafted items from fort employees.
"We wanted a way to showcase the items we make at the fort, and this was one way to do that," said park manager Joan Huffman.
Jim Moore made dinner bells and nail-hooks; Bud Stumph, copper bracelets; Margaret Curtsinger, cloth flowers; Zenah Teater, mini-brooms; Mary Crossfield, woven mats and purses created on a 200-year-old loom; Dennis Ballard, woodwork; and Patty Hall, dolls. Pat Logsdon, Mary Rose Harley and Margaret Sims decorated the tree.
