Fifteen indicted by Mercer grand jury

HARRODSBURG - A Mercer County grand jury handed up indictments against 15 people Friday.

Following are the names of the people indicted and the charges against them:

Danny Edwards, 44, of 427 Cardwell St. No. 4, is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary and receiving stolen property of $300 or more. Edwards is charged with entering the home of Charles Sanders and a building owned by Sanders on Oct. 7 and having tools valued at more than $300 and belonging to Sanders in his possession, also on Oct. 7.

Because Edwards has previously been found guilty of felonies and has been sentenced to prison, each of the three counts carries with it a charge of being a persistent felony offender.

Earl Wayne Baker, 37, of 629 Mooreland Ave., is charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, methamphetamine, on April 8 and April 22; one count of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, hydrocodone, on April 22; and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school for allegedly selling marijuana on April 6.


Raymond Darrell Patton, 43, of 210 Hill St., is charged with three counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, cocaine. The indictments charge that two of the offenses occurred on July 19 and the third on Feb. 28.

Robert Dwayne Wilson, 34, of Bowling Green, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and driving under the influence of intoxicants. The indictments charge the offenses occurred on Sept. 7.

Michael Travis Logue, 33, of 600 Ashwood Court, is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, for allegedly trafficking in morphine on Sept. 14.

Melissa Jane Buck, 25, of 795 Martin Lane, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Buck allegedly possessed cocaine and a pipe and rolling papers on Oct. 8.

Marsha Roy, 35, whose last known address is Tabler Avenue, is charged with eight counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. She allegedly possessed forged checks drawn on Fifth Third in the amounts of $75, $60 and $52 on Dec. 19; $75 on Dec. 20; $55 and $59 on Dec. 21; and two checks in the amount of $55 on Dec. 22.

Anthony James Sawyer, 31, of 600 Manns Road, is charged with first-degree bail jumping for allegedly failing to appear for a status hearing on a felony charge in Mercer Circuit Court on Oct. 19.

Kris Anthony Shell, 29, 119 Evergreen Lane, is charged with first-degree robbery. The indictment charges that Shell threatened to use force while committing a theft from B&S Grocery on Sept. 28.

Bill McKenzie, 45, a convicted sexual offender, whose last known address is 542 Allah Ave., is charged with failure to register with the Kentucky Department of Probation and Parole on April 1.

Oscar W. Lewis, 30, of Springfield, Ohio, is charged with receiving stolen property over $300 and fraudulent use of a credit card. Both offenses allegedly occurred on Oct. 8. The first indictment charges Lewis with having a vehicle that is owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad Co. and the second charges Lewis with using a credit card in the name of Stephanie Wade.

Austin D. Howell, 18, of 587 Cogar Ave., is charged with third-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking of items valued at $300 or more. He is charged with allegedly breaking into Mercer Music Shop on Sept. 21 and taking guitars valued at more than $300.

Paul Butler, 37, of Fort Payne, Ala.; Rodrigo Rios, 34, of Rio Grande, Texas, and Renee Jones, 32, address unknown, are charged with flagrant nonsupport for failure to provide support for their minor children.
