On behalf of The Arts Commission of Danville-Boyle County, I wish to thank this community for its enthusiastic support of our first-ever Gallery Hop on Friday.
So many people were integral to the success of this event. Twenty-two local businesses, agencies or private galleries volunteered to become Hop Stop locations for the evening and went out of their way to provide hospitality and delicious refreshments. More than 50 local artists prepared exhibits of their work to share with attendees, and eight local musicians entertained throughout the evening. The Boyle County Extension Homemakers donated hours of their time to make banners designating Hop Stop locations. Toy Box Catering contributed radio advertising spots for Hop promotion, and Hershel McKinley supplied his voice for the recordings. Jennifer Brummett of The Advocate-Messenger gave us star status with her front-page Arts and Entertainment section article and added reminders about the Hop in the newspaper. The Chamber of Commerce made it a weekend tribute to the arts by coordinating their "All in Good Taste" event to complement the Hop. And, most of all, people in this community came out on a cold, damp Friday evening to enjoy the arts.
