I could hardly believe what I read in your paper on Nov. 8.
On the front page, Judge-Executive Tony Wilder was painting a financial crisis picture. Suggestions were being made to cut all kinds of county services - garbage collection at Forkland, the purchase of a sheriff's department cruiser, an ambulance for EMS, a paramedic and an emergency medical technician - all of which would color the picture black for the citizens of Boyle County.
The real kicker on Nov. 8 was the article below the grim financial picture. In that article, the county treasurer's salary was raised $8,500 per year. This, according to Wilder, was for extra hours worked. Although she doesn't fill out a timesheet, Wilder says she has 1,000-plus hours accumulated. With all of the services being cut, why wasn't she asked to cut back also? Instead, she is given a huge increase.
What's wrong with this picture? Tony Wilder, that's what!
