HARRODSBURG - Marie Sallee McRay, 95, of Castle Heights, died Thursday at Bradford Square Health Care Center in Frankfort.
Born Aug. 21, 1909, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Iva Corn Long Colvin. She was a retired seamstress at Cricketeer Manufacturing Co. and a member of Mercer County Senior Citizens and Fellowship Baptist Church. She was the widow of Homer Sallee and A.D. McRay.
Survivors include a son, Norman Sallee of Frankfort; a stepson, Arthur B. McRay of Springfield; three sisters, Virginia Emmettsburger, Lula Belle Elder and Dorothy McIntosh, all of Louisville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Maurice J. Sallee; and a daughter, Ramah Joyce Sallee.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Everett Hawkins. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Sallee, Kevin Sallee, Norman Sallee, Paul Votaw, Willie B. Horn and Morris Long.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials may go to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Virgie W. Peavler
HARRODSBURG - Virgie Watts Peavler, 75, of Tabler Avenue, died Thursday at her home.
Born Nov. 26, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late T.R. and Easter Patrick Watts. She was a cook at Stone Manor Restaurant for 23 years and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Peavler; five sons, Edward "Catfish" Peavler, Hubert "Pud" Peavler, Robert "Shorty" Peavler and David "Pee Wee" Peavler, all of Harrodsburg, and Audrey Dale "Peck" Peavler of Lawrenceburg; a daughter, Geraldine Jones Vetters of Danville; three brothers, Leslie Watts of Walton, Billy Luther Watts of Harrodsburg, and David Watts of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Mildred Lewis and Patricia Phillips, both of Harrodsburg; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Willie Peavler.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Kenneth Meredith. Burial will be in Peters Cemetery, Mackville.
Pallbearers will be Lesley Watts Jr., Kevin Watts, Alvin Rose Watts, William Luther Watts Jr., Lawrence Watts and Keith Watts.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Saturday and prior to the service Sunday.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Leola Marie Tarkington Washburne, 84, of Glendale, Ariz., died Nov. 10.
She was the daughter of the late Ethel Belle Cone and Irvine Brumfield Tarkington. She grew up in Moreland and attended the University of Kentucky, majoring in home economics. She was a member of Sayville Congregational Church and Sayville Garden Club.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Washburne; two daughters, Paula Washburne Blasko of Long Island, N.Y., and Barbara Washburne Nixon, of Glendale, Ariz.,; a sister, Alma Tarkington Denton of Owingsville; and three grandsons.
PERRYVILLE - Services for Forest Hafley, 80, of Bull Lane, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Revs. Jimmy Owens and Doug Thacker. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
He died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital.
Born March 29, 1924, in Marion County, he was the son of the late Allie and Ethel Sinkhorn Hafley. He was retired from Kentucky State Hospital and Northpoint Training Center where he was a plumber and in the maintenance department. He was the widower of Faye Crews Hafley.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin Lynn of Perryville; a son, Monte Hafley of Perryville; a brother, Glen Hafley of Sandy Creek; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Zach, Josh, Darrell, James and Bill Hafley and Gary Turpin.
Honorary pallbearers are Donald Ellis, Bud Strevels and Allie Hafley.

She died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 18, 1935, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late A.C. and Amanda Howard. She was retired from Palm Beach Co. and Garrard Farm Equipment Co. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon Long; two sons, Gordon W. Long and Gary E. Long, both of Lancaster; a daughter, Sherri L. Smith of Frankfort; three brothers, William Howard of Springboro, Ohio, Earl Howard of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Homer Howard of Rushville, Ind.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Brandon and Nathan Long, Todd Montgomery, Kevin Montgomery, Jon Hancock, Roy Howard, Michael Murphy and Marty Howard.
