I want to congratulate Coach Harp and the Admirals on an outstanding performance in one of the most exciting high school football games I've seen in a very long time. Special recognition goes to Kelvin "Dukie" Turner for his accomplishment, setting the state record for touchdowns in a high school career. I, like so many other Ad fans, look forward to seeing Kelvin add to this total in the coming weeks. Ronnie Hawkins and the rest of the seniors have been a big part of Dukie's success along the way.
I have known Kelvin since he was in the sixth grade and am very impressed with the responsible and respectful young man he has grown to be. Besides being an excellent athlete and competitor, he's become a genuinely good person. A major part of the credit for both can be traced back to a man who has unselfishly given of himself to help mold Danville football players and young men for many, many years. This man is Kelvin's dad, who everyone knows as "K.T." Coach Turner coaches football at Bate Middle School with head coach Kenny Young. I've never known him to allow a player to give up on himself on or off the field. He works with the kids to help them learn how to reach their potential and learn to be winners in football and in life.
