NICHOLASVILLE - Harrodsburg had no answer for Brett Durham on Tuesday, as the Pioneers dropped their season opener 72-52 at East Jessamine in the coaching debut of Chad Luhman.
Durham pumped in 44 points as the Jaguars led 25-14 at the half.
"They jumped out kind of early on us," Luhman said. "Brett Durham killed us. They really got it out to him, and he got a lot of one-on-ones and free throws. We fought back in third quarter a little, but they were a lot bigger than us, and a lot more skilled."
Justin Doolin led Harrodsburg with 21 points, Cory Jackson added 13 and Chase Wofford scored nine. The Pioneers trailed 53-40 heading into the final period, but could get no closer.
Eurich Downey scored 13 to hit double figures for East Jessamine.
Harrodsburg 44, Frankfort 39 - At Harrodsburg, a big fourth quarter boosted Harrodsburg (1-0) over Frankfort (0-1).
