Stanford Baptists plan Christmas musical events

STANFORD - The Stanford Baptist Church has planned the following musical events for the Advent season, according to Stuart Underwood, minister of music at the church:

7 p.m. Dec. 12, "Children's Night at Christmas," featuring children's choirs which will present music of the Christmas season.

7 p.m. Dec. 18, "Night of Alleluias!" featuring the adult choir with a cantata for the community. An offering will be taken to support the Fort Logan Cooperative Ministries.

10:45 a.m. Dec. 19, "Night of Alleluias" during the morning worship service.

5:30 p.m. Dec. 24, Christmas Eve candlelight/communion service featuring scripture, music, candlelight and communion.

Gospel Extravaganza is Sunday

The Beasley Family and Friends will host a Gospel Extravaganza 4 p.m. Sunday at the Church of God of America, Martin Luther King Boulevard, where the Rev. Clay Beasley is pastor.


Gospel singers include the Beasley Family, (Clay, Sam, Anna Margaret, William Sr., Rhonda, Regina Renita, Shastavia and William Jr.

Also singing will be The Davis Sisters, Centennial Community Choir, St. James AME Choir, First Baptist Church Men's Chorus, First Baptist Church of Perryville, Tammie Bradley, Kol Overstreet, Bishop Donald Bright, and ministers Glenn Dunn, Mark Logan, Donald Massey, Mario Radford and Bobby Harris.


Trinity Episcopal Church - will celebrate the second Sunday of Advent with a service of lessons and carols at 5 p.m. Sunday. The Trinity choir will be joined by the Asbury College Collegium Musicum Vocal Ensemble. A reception will follow in the parish hall.


Beuna Vista Baptist Church - 11 a.m. Sunday for a Hanging of the Greens service. The 6 p.m. Sunday service will include the women's Christmas tree with a special PowerPoint presentation. The church also will host a special program 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Ron Sivells of the Kentucky Baptist Convention will present "Share Jesus Without Fear."
