A Parksville man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the 2002 shooting of David Gorley through the backdoor of his home in the Forkland community.
Earl Douglas "Doug" Williams, 48, was sentenced last week by Boyle Circuit Judge Darren Peckler after being convicted of first-degree assault and being a persistent felony offender. Because of the PFO conviction, Williams will serve the entire 25 years of his sentence without being eligible for parole.
A jury convicted Williams Nov. 18 of shooting Gorley in the back Jan. 29, 2002, following an altercation earlier in the day.
According to court records, Williams and two other men went to Gorley's home, located on Gorley Road, and got into a fight with Gorley before he ran them off with a gun.
