Alvin Gibson

LIBERTY - Alvin Gibson, 87, died Monday at Stanford House nursing home.

Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Tim and Bessie Johnson Gibson. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of McKinney Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Bernadine Austin of Hustonville; two brothers, Coy Gibson of Liberty and Dennis Foster of Harrodsburg; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Mike Hatter. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday.

Margaret L. Coffman

LIBERTY - Margaret Louise Coffman, 78, of Button Knob Road, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Cobert Coffman. Arrangements are incomplete at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.


Alvaline Bowles

LIBERTY - Alvaline Bowles, 67, of Louisville, died today at Audubon Hospital in Louisville. Arrangements are incomplete at Bartle Funeral Home.


Jeep Gorley

Services for Jeffery Keith "Jeep" Gorley, 47, of Junction City, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Leland Lockhart. Burial will be in Elder Cemetery.

He died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be Ezeriah, Stephen and Alex Gorley, Tyler Reed, Matthew Vernon and Obie Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Wilson, Ike McCowan, Tommy Mathis, Richard Greer, Mike Belcher, Ronald Gordon, Arthur Ray Cox and Millard Warren.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Forkland Community Center.

Marian M. Richards

A memorial service for Marian McArthur Richards, 103, formerly of Winchester, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Eric Mount.

She died Thursday in Versailles.

Born Sept. 2, 1901, she was the daughter of the late John Martin and Cora McMichael McArthur. She was the widow of Henry S. Richards. She attended University of Kentucky where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and graduated from University of Miami, Oxford, Ohio. In Winchester, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Little Garden Club, Guerrant Clinic Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution and was active in several civic projects, especially the renovation of Holyrood, the James Rogers Clark home.

Survivors include a son, Joseph M. Richards of Destin, Fla.; a daughter, Margaret Richards Beto of Danville; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be after noon Saturday at Stith Funeral Home.

Canaan Murphy

LANCASTER - Services for Canaan Metcalf Murphy, 77, of Maplewood Drive, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ramsey Funeral Home by Gary Story. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

She died Monday in Lancaster.

Born June 6, 1927, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late John and Kate Davis Metcalf. She was a homemaker, former Garrard County deputy tax commissioner, and a member of Lancaster United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Loyd Murphy.

Survivors include a daughter, Teressa Powers of Cadiz; a son, Phil Murphy of Lancaster; a sister, Mary "Pug" Adkinson of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eric May, T.C. Fraley, Gary Shell, Kimmel Boyle, Wendell Metcalf and Larry Teater.

Honorary pallbearers are Leonard Carrier, Caywood Metcalf, Marilyn Grow, Louise Barrett, Pam Whitehouse and Sally Montgomery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

Hazel V. Smith

HUSTONVILLE - Services for Hazel V. Smith, 88, of Mount Salem, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Travis Farris. Burial will be in McKinney Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 21, 1916, in Malden, Mo., she was the daughter of the late David and Eliza Robinson Vincent. She was retired from Palm Beach Co. where she worked for 35 years. She was a graduate of McKinney High School and a member of Mount Salem Baptist Church. She was the widow of A.G. Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Jarrett and Brenda Wardrip, both of Mount Salem; a son, George Smith of Mount Salem; a sister, Ruby Smith of Mount Salem; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Barry and Brian Smith, Ronald and Chubby Baird, Jim Jarrett and Otis Delk. Honorary pallbearers are Agnes McAninch, Shirley Wilcher and Elsie Catlett.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today.
