I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to use the new free dump on High Street. It used to be a house that unfortunately burned down last year a few weeks before Christmas. Now, it's just a rock foundation with a basement that is being used by everyone and their brother to dump their old furniture, clothes and other garbage in. But here's the good part: I get to look out my kitchen window at this every day and when the wind is right, most of the garbage ends up in my yard - not to mention the overflow of mice, rats and snakes that live in our new "dump."
Apparently, this is not a code violation in Danville. But then again, maybe it is, just not on High Street. If this had happened in Richmond, where I moved from, the codes officer and city council would get hand cramps from writing so many violations!
