BEREA - Woodford County scored the game's first 17 points and went on to easily beat the Lincoln County girls 71-36 in the Berea Holiday Classic Sunday in Berea.
"Woodford just dominated us from the beginning," said Lincoln coach John Kolasa. "We finally got a free throw midway of the first quarter, but Woodford never looked back."
Senior Destiny Mattingly and eighth-grader Katie Cooke combined for 44 points for Woodford (6-1). Mattingly had three 3-pointers in Woodford's first four possessions and had four 3-pointers in the game to score 22 points. Cook also had three 3-pointers and had 21 points.
"As a team, they had 10 3-point goals," Kolasa said. "We just had no answer for that."
Megan Pitts led Lincoln with eight points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Shawna Noakes, who was 3-for-4 from the field, added seven points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jenny Jones had a team-high five rebounds and six points on 2-for-4 shooting.
