Casey woman charged with DUI

LIBERTY - A local woman was charged Sunday with driving under the influence after she crashed her vehicle on Ky. 49 north of here, police said.

Sunshine Livers, 19, 10676 S. Ky. 501, was charged with DUI under 21 years of age, said Casey County Sheriff Jerry Coffman.

Livers lost control of her 1995 Chevrolet Camaro as she was driving south, causing the vehicle to hit a utility pole, cross the road, and strike an embankment.


Jewelry, camera taken in burglary

HARRODSBURG - Phoebe Brown, 56, of 715 Wren St., reported to police that someone broke into her home at about 2 p.m. Dec. 15 and took several items of jewelry valued at about $805.

The alleged burglar broke in through a door and also took a camera valued at $50 and $4 in state quarters. Officer Jason Eldridge is investigating.

Purse snatching reported

HARRODSBURG - Betty Johnson, 60, of 1204 W. Walnut St., reported to police that her purse was taken as she walked into the emergency room of James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital at about 8 p.m. Dec. 15.

She told police a black man came up behind her and grabbed her purse. She grabbed the purse back, but the robber used force and pulled it away from her and ran away. The suspect is unknown, but police said that he may have been driving a white van.

Officer Jason Elder is investigating. He was assisted by Officer Jason Eldridge.
