Bobby G. Royalty

HARRODSBURG - Bobby Gene Royalty, 70, of Burgin, a Burgin city commissioner, died Wednesday at his home. He was the husband of Nancy Lowe Royalty. Arrangements are incomplete at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Steven L. Salyers

WAYNESBURG - Steven Lewis Salyers, 43, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday at Baptist Hospital North East, La Grange.

Born July 9, 1961, in Casey County, he was the son of Josephine Salyers of Waynesburg and the late Everett Saylers.

Survivors include his former wife, Marsha Salyers of Kings Mountain; a son, Shane Salyers of Kings Mountain; and a brother, Danny V. Salyers of Waynesburg. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Salyers.


Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Greg Powell. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Darrell McQueary, Robert Lynn, Willie Salyers, Kevin Dunham, Chris Salyers and Danny Salyers.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday.

Edward L. Sherman

LANCASTER - Edward L. Sherman, 52, of Pin Oak Drive, died Tuesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at Ramsey Funeral Home.

Joseph B. Wood

LANCASTER Joseph B. Wood, 56, of Kelley Ridge Road, died today at his home. He was the husband of Joan Wood. Arrangements are incomplete at Spurlin Funeral Home.


John Carpenter

STANFORD - Services for John Alfred Carpenter, 91, of Waynesburg, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home by the Revs. Oscar Mayes and Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.

He died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Aug. 9, 1913, in Casey County, he was a son of the late George A. and Annie Woods Gooch Carpenter. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was known as Ponyman because he worked pony rides for children. He was a member of Stanford Christian Church, Carpenters Union and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Joseph Carpenter; two sons, Calvin E. Carpenter of Perryville and Al Carpenter of Waynesburg; a daughter, Brenda G. Carpenter of Waynesburg; two sisters, Mattie Clausen of Pleasant Plains, Ohio, and Lillian Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eddie and Joe McFerron, Patrick Staten, Bob Joseph, Shawn Miracle and Norman Richer.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today.
