Mercer beats Anderson

Burgin and Casey lose

NEW CASTLE - Kameron McRay scored 28 points to lead Mercer County to an 82-67 win over next-door neighbor Anderson County Tuesday night in the consolation round of the Henry County Invitational.

McRay hit four 3-point goals for the Scotties, who were 10-for-23 from 3-point range.

Mercer (2-3) built a 21-point lead in the first half, and its 20-for-25 free-throw shooting helped seal the win.

Michael Bottoms scored 16 points and Bill Davis added 13 for the Scotties, who played for fifth place today against Henry County or Ludlow.

North Bullitt 90, Burgin 44 - At Warsaw, Burgin (1-7) was outscored 50-22 in the second half by North Bullitt (2-4) in a second-round game at the Gallatin County Christmas Tournament.

The Bulldogs were within 20-15 after one quarter, but scored only seven points in the second before being routed in the second half.

"We were beaten badly on the boards, especially in the second half," Burgin coach Don Irvine said.

Jordan Darland led Burgin with 10 points.

Burgin was scheduled to play Carroll County today, but Irvine said the rest of the tournament could be canceled because of the impending winter storm.

Southern 65, Casey County 52 - At Cannonsburg, Casey (1-4) fell behind early and fell to Southern (4-3) in a consolation-round game at the Boyd County Town Square Invitational.

The Rebels trailed by 24 points when the fourth quarter began, then rallied to within seven points before Southern stopped their run.

Corey Dial, Derek Stephens and Jason Sanders led Casey with 11 points each.

Casey plays East Carter or Russell today for seventh place.
