We apologize

December 29, 2004

It's nice to be missed.

We felt that way Tuesday at The Advocate-Messenger, trying to find a positive in the error of our ways.

Monday was a holiday here. Since Christmas fell on a Saturday, we chose to use the following Monday as the paid holiday for our staff. That, of course, meant no newspaper would be published that day.

In all the preparations, we overlooked one very important task - to tell our customers in the Sunday newspaper. For that we apologize.

We made announcements in other media on Monday, but many of our readers still didn't get the word. And they let us know. Our phones were swamped Tuesday with calls, and most of them were kind and understanding.

We begin anew here.

Please be advised that since Saturday is again a holiday, we will not publish on Monday, Jan. 3, so that our employees can enjoy a paid holiday with their families.

We'll remind you again as the time draws near. And thanks for missing us.
