Betty B. Dunn

Betty Jean Biles Dunn, 86, of Carson, Calif., formerly of Danville, died Sunday at Kinard Guest Home in Carson.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Biles, a 1936 graduate of Danville High School and a 1939 graduate of Centre College. After graduating from Centre, she completed training as a registered nurse and served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Hope during World War II. After a career in the Navy, she worked as a nurse in various industrial plants in California. She was the widow of William J. Dunn.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Ann Burke of Danville; a brother, George R. Biles of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are incomplete.

Shirley G. Givens

Shirley Greene Givens, of Brock Drive, Stanford, died Tuesday at his home. He was the husband of Sarah Givens. Arrangements are incomplete at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home.


Evelyn Mayfield

Evelyn Mayfield, 84, of John "W.D." Bowling Court, died today at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home.

Lida Bower

LANCASTER - Lida Bower, 91, of Danville Street, died Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital. She was the widow of Fay Bower. Arrangements are incomplete at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Florence Gullett

HARRODSBURG - Florence Gullett, 65, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Lena S. Walls

CRAB ORCHARD - Lena Mae Stokes Walls, 61, of Crab Orchard, died Sunday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Feb. 15, 1943, in Greenville, N.C., she was the daughter of Cora Lee Harris Stokes of Vanceboro, N.C., and the late Hicks Ardell Stokes. She was the widow of Calvin Walls.

Other survivors include three sisters, Rachel Dixon and Jackie Noriega, both of Vanceboro, and Fran Simpson of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Larrie Stokes of Washington, N.C., and Claudious Stokes of Vanceboro; two stepsons, Calvin D. Walls and Robert L. Walls, both of Lexington; and a stepdaughter, Sandra Brisson of Lexington.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery by Dan Gutenson. No visitation is planned.

McKnight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


William Price Jr.

Graveside services for William "Bill" Price Jr., 78, of Tennessee Ridge, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Spring Hill Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio.

He died Monday at his home.

Born Dec. 27, 1926, in Cincinnati, he was the son of the late William A. Price and Gertrude Emerson Price. He was a retired employee of Fox Paper Co. in Cincinnati, a World War II veteran and the widower of Carrie F. Grinstead Price.

Survivors include his stepmother, Ida Price of Russell Springs; three sons, Lester Price of Westchester, Ohio, David Price of Winchester, Ohio, and Charles Price of Oxford, Ohio; a half brother, Garnett Price of Russell Springs; four half sisters, Lela McDonald and Louise, both of Liberty, Virgie Talbott of Louisville, and Euzella Wilson of Russell Springs; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. Thursday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
