Free flowering trees available

Ten free flowering trees will be given to each person who joins the National Arbor Day Foundation during January.

The trees, two white flowering dogwoods, two crabapples, two Washington Hawthorns, two American redbuds and two goldenraintrees.

The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting between Feb. 1 and May 31 with planting instructions.

Watch-night service location changed

The watch-night service originally planned for tonight at First Baptist Church, Perryville, will be held at Stoney Point Baptist Church in Danville beginning at 10:30 p.m.



Thursday's front page article regarding the calcium carbide spill at the Norfolk Southern rail yard in Danville incorrectly identified the use of the chemical. When mixed with water, calcium carbide forms acetylene gas, which is used in welding.
