SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Centre women could not hold a lead Thursday, letting a double digit first-half advantage slip away in an 82-73 loss to Buffalo State at the Kiwanis-Wittenberg Holiday Classic.
"I thought we did a nice job in our execution, of trying to take shots more from the outside and trying knock those down," Centre coach Jennifer Ruff-Osborne said. "But they had a lot more quickness than our team and were able to get past us and into the paint for shots."
Jayme Davis led Centre (2-9) with 19 points and eight boards, Lauren Clontz scored 18, Sarah Sheeran had 14 points and eight rebounds and Monica Vonderbrink scored 12.
The Colonels finished 28-for-66 from the field and 12-for-19 from the free throw line.
Centre had a 10-point lead in the first half, but the scored was tied 34-34 at the half. Centre got within four late, but missed layups stopped hopes of a win.
