Willie Allen

Willie Allen, of Danville, died Saturday at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home.

Effie Atwood

LIBERTY - Effie M. Atwood, 78, of Liberty, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 13, 1926, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Ollie Woodrum Cannon. She was the widow of Shirely E. Atwood. She was an employee of Liberty Sportswear and a teacher's aid at Douglas Elementary School. She was a member of Atwood's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie and Danny Atwood, both of Liberty; a sister, Ocie Frost of Liberty; a brother, Rollan Cannon of Liberty; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Atwood.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bartle Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward Parton. Burial will be in Tapscott Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Atwood, Ricky and Andy Cannon, Tracey Wesley, Shannon White and Jeff Frost.

Honorary pallbearers are Gary Lynn and Bobby Joe Frost.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday.

Denzil Emerson

LIBERTY - Denzil G. Emerson, 74, of Dunnville, died Saturday at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Irene Emerson. Arrangements are incomplete at Bartle Funeral Home.

Curtis Lay

LIBERTY - Curtis Lay, 92, of Chestnut Level Road, died Friday at Casey County Hospital.

Born June 21, 1912, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Si and Cleo Roberts Lay. He was the widower of Hazel Brackett Lay. He was a farmer, timber businessman and member of Athens Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Sherril Lay of Fairfield, Ohio; six daughters, Phyllis Chadwell, Charlene Matthews, Marcella Coffman, Regina Taylor and Velma Martin, all of Liberty, and Patricia Douglas of Gravel Switch; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by James D. McDonald. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery.

Visitation is after 8 a.m. today.

Mary Sheppard

LOUISVILLE - Mary Squiers Sheppard, 47, of Louisville, died Wednesday in Louisville.

Born July 5, 1957, in Miami, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Janet VanWinkle, whose family formerly owned The Advocate-Messenger, and the late Bard Squiers.

Survivors include two sons, Parker and David Sheppard, both of Durango, Colo.; two sisters, Ludie Stevens of Ringoes, N.J., and Elizabeth Beam of Prospect; a brother, Colston Newton of Virginia; and seven nieces and nephews.

Services are 3 p.m. today at Pearson Funeral Home in Louisville. Stith Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Christina Lynn

MORELAND - Services for Christina Thurman Lynn, 26, of Berea, will be 1 p.m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church in Moreland by David Fralix. Burial will be in Richmond Cemetery.

She died Thursday at Patty A. Clay Hospital in Richmond.

Born Dec. 13, 1978, in Ft. Lewis, Wash., she was the daughter of Gary and Linda Thurman of Richmond. She was a graduate of Garrard Co. High School and Eastern Kentucky University.

Additional survivors include her husband, Rob Lynn of Berea; maternal grandparents, Burt and Dorothy Moss of St. Louis; paternal grandfather, Chester Partrich of St. Louis; and a sister, Debbie Thurman of Richmond.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the church.

W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
