Boyle grand jury indicts 13

A Boyle County grand jury recently indicted 13 people, including a Somerset man on nine charges of obtaining Hydrocodone, a controlled substance, by fraud and also on charges of being a persistent felon.

Johnny Hensley, 44, of KY 192, Somerset, allegedly misrepresented his need for Hydrocodone to obtain perscriptions for the drug from two doctors.

Hensley had previously been convicted of receiving stolen property over $300 and conspiracy to commit burglary in Bell County, and second-degree burglary in Harlan County. Bail for the current charges was set at $50,000. Cindy Corcoran was the grand jury witness.

Others indicted include:

Delmar L. Benedict, 44, of Dogwood Drive, Danville, on charges of first-degree bail jumping after he allegedly failed to appear for a sentencing hearing on felony charges in December. Bail is $5,000 cash. Corcoran was the grand jury witness.

John Bess Jr., 18, of Danville, on charges of second-degree assault. Scott Cavazos was the grand jury witness.

David L. Douglas, 20, of East Shelby Street, Junction City, on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance in or near a school for allegedly selling marijuana within 1,000 yards of a school building in November. Douglas was also indicted on charges of possession of marijuana. The grand jury witness was Nicoli Jilek.

Micah S. Ellis, 18, of Denmark Drive, Danville, was indicted on charges of possession of a forged prescription for Loritab, a controlled substance, and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. Jilek was the grand jury witness.

Chirstopher Ferrell, 36, in the Boyle County Detention Center, on charges of welfare fraud. Bail was set at $5,000 cash. Craig Birdwhistle was the grand jury witness.

William J. Harris, 37, of Griffith Avenue, Louisville, on charges of flagrant non-support. Bond was set at $5,000 cash, non-refundable. Carol Lunney was the grand jury witness.

Steven A. Hook, 49, on charges of two counts of theft of a controlled substance. Hook allegedly took Percocets and Loritabs from patients at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Bail was set at $10,000. Michael Burton was the grand jury witness.

Tara N. Jackson, 27, in Whitley County Detention Center, on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument. Bail is $5,000. Robert Estill was the grand jury witness.

Carol J. Jawort, 48, of Bethelridge, on charges of theft by unlawful taking. Police say she took a ring valued at or more than $300 from Wal-Mart. Bail is $5,000. A.J. Mullins was the grand jury witness.

Sherrie Y. Odom, 38, in Boyle County Detention Center, on charges of welfare fraud. Bail was set at $5,000. Birdwhistle was the grand jury witness.

Erica N. Patterson, 25, of Pheasant Drive, Harrodsburg, on charges of 12 counts of possession of a forged instrument and being a persistent felony offender. In 2002, Patterson was convicted in Boyle County of theft by unlawful taking. Bail for the current charges is set at $40,000. Bob Williamson was the grand jury witness.

Raymond J. Walls, 56, of Berea, on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument. Bail was set at $5,000. Mullins was the grand jury witness.
