Dog obedience class offered

A free obedience session for anyone one has adopted a dog or puppy from the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the National Guard Armory on Stanford Road.

Professional trainer Cheri Carbone will teach basic commands and answer questions about problem behaviors. Participants should bring their pets on a leash to the class, which will last about 90 minutes.

Commodities distribution in Casey

LIBERTY - Commodities will be distributed to income-eligible Casey County residents from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday at Casey County Recycling Center, 1175 Campbellsville St. Recipients are asked to bring containers.

Casey organizing goat association

LIBERTY - Casey County goat producers are in the process of organizing an association.

There were 43 people who expressed interest in the group at a meeting Tuesday. They are only a few of the people in the county who are raising goats, said Steven Heighchew, county agricultural agent.

Officers and a committee were appointed to work on the start-up process and will meet Monday, he said.

The organization is for anyone interested in producing meat, dairy or pigmy goats.

Tobacco buyout is meeting topic

STANFORD - An overview of the general regulations and an explanation of the process for tobacco growers to get qualified for buyout dollars will be on the agenda of a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Lincoln County High School cafeteria.

Dan Grigson, county agricultural agent, said the meeting is open to Lincoln farmers as well as other counties.

"We're trying to help folks on the buyout program by explaining the process, and save them time when making applications at the Farm Service Agency," Grigson said.

Farm Service Agency and Lincoln County Cooperative Extension Service personnel will be on hand at the meeting.

MEETING

Garrard County Board of Education - 11:30 a.m. Friday for a special meeting at Garrard County High School cafeteria to discuss changing the school calendar.
