Danville Rotarians to host French visitors

March 30, 2005

A group of six adults from France hosted by the Danville Rotary Club will visit the Danville area beginning April 6.

The exchange program is sponsored by Rotary International and brings people from all walks of life to this country to experience what life is like in the United States with the intention of creating better understanding between the nations of the world.

Visitors from the French team exemplify that objective. The guests will include a retired English teacher, a baker, a firefighter, an environmentalist, a journalist and one who is involved with sports equipment.

A series of visits is scheduled by the club during the group's three-day stay. On April 6, they will tour Danville, Centre College and be transported to their host families' residences. On April 7, activities include a visit to the Vieux Corbeau Winery, lunch at Shakertown, individual visits to matching professionals here and dinner with the host families.

Host families include Charles and Sarah Vahlkamp, Bill and Rene Payne, Tom and Betty Poland, Paula and Jerry Kilby, Kathy and Bill Simpson and Milton and Sandy Reigelman. Charles Vahlkamp is coordinator of the event.
