Benefit gospel concert set for May 6

A benefit gospel concert will be held at 7 p.m. May 6 at RR Donnelley Building, Stewarts Lane in Danville. The concert will feature The Spirit Seekers, St. James A.M.E, Choir, Regina Harris, The Singing Byrds, Juanita Chadwell and others.

Admission is free, but love offerings will be accepted. The concert is sponsored by Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, Danville, for its building fund.

Bethel Christian Church - 6 p.m. May 1, a gospel concert featuring the Trinity Heirs, Jody Brock and Barbara Smith. Everyone is welcome to come and join in this Southern Gospel Concert. For information, contact Danny Smith at (859) 887-2947.

SPECIAL SERVICES

Trinity Episcopal Church - 2-3:30 p.m. May 6 at the church on Main Street. May Friendship Day is an annual celebration event observed as a common worship experience that strengthens and builds friendly relationships within communities.

Ann Sleet will be the leader for the program "Living in the Light: True Friends are Salt and Light." It also is the time to celebrate the Fellowship of the Least Coin, a worldwide movement that seeks to instill peace and reconciliation in our families, work places, communities or nation and the world through prayer and the setting aside of the least coin of each nation. Each time a woman prays for peace and reconciliation, she puts her least coin (a penny in the U.S.) in an FLC Coin Bank.

Special speaker will be Kitty Baird, who will tell of her experiences as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer in many countries. This celebration is sponsored by Danville and Boyle County Church Women United Unit, one of the oldest units in Kentucky. CWU was founded in 1941 and is an ecumenical movement reaching 25 million Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian women.

First Baptist Church on Second and Walnut streets - annual Rally Day Sunday. Services will be 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with a free dinner served after morning service. Guests for the day include Rev. First Baptist Davistown - Sunday, Pastor's Anniversary. Morning service will begin at 11 a.m. with dinner served immediately after. Afternoon service will begin at 3 p.m. with guest preacher W.W. Ballinger from St. Luke Baptist Church in Louisville. The church is at 518 Old Davistown School Road in Lancaster.

REVIVAL

Ephesus Baptist Church - 11 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Sunday night though Wednesday. Special singing will be held during each service. Evangelist will be Mike Hatter.

Perryville United Methodist Church - 6:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a revival with special music each night. The public is welcome to attend. Speakers include Greg Warren Friday, Cameron Mills Saturday and Bruce Chute Sunday.
