Four Danville teens were chased down by police and charged with armed robbery late Wednesday night after they allegedly entered a party on East Lexington Avenue with masks and a gun and demanded money.

The suspects fled on foot after collecting $2 from guests, Assistant Danville Police Chief Jay Newell said. No one was injured.

Police got a cell phone call from one of the guests at the party about 11:40 p.m. reporting a robbery in progress. Officers responded to 106 E. Lexington Ave. to see suspects running from the scene. A mask and a gun were found inside the garage of the residence, Newell said.

The first suspect was caught hiding in the bushes near the Lexington Avenue residence. A second suspect was chased down by officers a few minutes later near Stith Funeral Home on Broadway. A third suspect was discovered hiding behind a minivan near the scene. The fourth suspect was later found at his home, Newell said. "The officers did a good job of getting the area saturated and holding it," Newell said.

The juveniles were two pairs of brothers, all either 16 or 17 years old, Newell said. They were all released to the custody of their parents as directed by the court designated worker assigned to the case, Newell said.

The small party on Lexington Avenue was hosted by Melbourne A. Williams, 18, who lives at the residence. Guests at the party recognized at least two of the suspects from attending Danville High School, Newell said. "It seems like a lot to risk for $2," Newell said. "Maybe they were expecting to get more."
