Godbey named headmaster at Danville Christian Academy

Tim Godbey has recently been named headmaster of Danville Christian Academy.

In a position previously held by Delmar Warren, and currently by interim headmaster Emajo Carlton, Godbey will assume full-time responsibilities at DCA beginning June 16. He will play a pivotal role in the development of and fundraising for the new school building, ensuring full accreditation and guiding the school's substantial new growth, according to a press release.

Godbey completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Eastern Kentucky University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in Middle Grade Education and a Master's of Arts Degree in administrative leadership.

For more than 10 years, Godbey served in various posts in the Lincoln County School District, where he served as an athletic coach, classroom teacher and assistant principal for two years at Stanford Elementary School. Most recently, he was the director of transportation.

"I am honored to have been chosen by DCA's search committee to lead the school during such an exciting time of growth," said Godbey. "I look forward to the upcoming challenges my new position will present and the opportunity to lead DCA's talented group of teachers and exceptional students."

An active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Godbey lives in Stanford, with his wife, Dayna and three children: Dalton, 8, Logan, 6, and Mayci, 1.

Founded in 1994, Danville Christian Academy provides a Christian education in a non-denominational setting to a diverse student population from throughout south central Kentucky, including Boyle, Mercer, Jessamine, Garrard, Lincoln, Casey and Rockcastle counties.

Pendygraft Joins First Southern National Bank

D. Shay Pendygraft has joined First Southern National Bank as a loan officer at the main branch in Stanford.

Pendygraft comes to First Southern with more than seven years experience. He most recently served as a loan officer for Heritage Community Bank in Danville.

"We are excited to add Shay to our lending team here in Lincoln County," said Bob Alford, city executive, First Southern National Bank. "His experience and his knowledge of the community will be tremendous assets to our team."

Pendygraft is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He lives in Hustonville with his wife, Sara, and their daughter Reese. They are members of Westside Community United Methodist Church.

McDermott joins Fifth Third Bank

Valerie McDermott has joined Fifth Third Bank as a mortgage loan originator and will be serving central Kentucky.

McDermott will provide mortgage lending services for home buyers and support services to area Realtors and builders. She is experienced in the building and real-estate title fields and holds a real-estate license.

An alumnae of the University of Kentucky, McDermott is the parent representative of the Junction City Elementary School site-based council for the 2005-06 school year.

Edward Jones announces new representative for Harrodsburg

The financial-services firm Edward Jones has hired Perry Dressler as the new investment representative for Harrodsburg's branch office located at 216 South Chiles St.

"We're very proud to have Perry represent us in Harrodsburg," said Douglas E. Hill, the firm's managing partner. "The people of this community have, grown to rely on our firm for their investment needs, and I'm confident Perry will continue our outstanding tradition by providing one-on-one service."

Dressler said he is enthusiastic about taking over the office.

"I joined this firm because I was impressed with its commitment to individual investors," he said. "Now I'm looking forward to meeting with the individuals here to help them meet their financial goals."

Danville hair salon expands

Changez Design Team Menz Salon has opened at 129 East Main St.

The business is owned by Cathy Lynch and Rex Frederick and managed by Frederick. It is a barber and stylists salon offering cuts - razor, clipper and curly hair - for men and women, color, braids, skin care, waxing, tanning, acrylic nails, manicure, pedicures, microdermabrasian and facials.

Frederick is an experienced barber with advanced training in haircuts.

The existing hair salon has expanded and added a new barber shop, and opened June 1 with one barber, four hairdressers and a nail technician.

Northpoint staff recognized

Gov. Ernie Fletcher proclaimed the week of May 2-6 as Kentucky Correctional Employees' Week, and Northpoint Training Center staff members enjoyed the special week devoted exclusively to their recognition.
