A young Danville philanthropist once featured in The Advocate-Messenger was included in an article in the most recent edition of the national magazine Family Circle.
Tanner Bone, 11, was quoted in an article in the July 12 edition of the magazine about kids who make a difference. Bone was one of several children featured from around the country who sold lemonade to raise money for cancer research.
He started a lemonade stand to benefit Boyle County Relay For Life, an American Cancer Society fundraising event, after his grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer, Bone said. His grandfather, Steven Smith, passed away in January, but not before telling Bone how proud he was of his efforts.
Bone raised an estimated $770 in the past two years, according to Family Circle.
