Barbourville woman is Miss Kentucky
LEXINGTON (AP) - Kerri Mitchell of Barbourville was crowned Miss Kentucky and will compete in the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City.
Mitchell, 21, is an English education major at Eastern Kentucky University. She competed as Miss Jefferson-town.
She'll get an $8,000 scholarship and the use of an apartment and a Ford Explorer during her reign.
Caroline Mitchell, 21, was the first runner-up during the competition Saturday night in Haggin Auditorium at Transylvania University.
Emily Cox, 19, was second runner-up, followed by Elizabeth Van Kersen, 23, as third runner-up and Erin Bentley, 24, as fourth runner-up.
