Garrard Fair draws nearly 3,000 Friday

LANCASTER - Friday night's attendance at the Garrard County Fair soared to 2,986, an increase over 200 from last year, said Fair Board Chairman Richard Arnold.

If the same amount was achieved on Saturday night, then the fair will have hit an all-time record.

There were four different contests of the evening, including the adult/child pedal pull, small animal, dog show and mud slings (four-wheeler and vehicles). Results fromthe mud slings and pedal pulls are not yet available.

There were only two entries in the small animal show and both won. Meagan Cole won with her ferret, and Peyton Crossfield won with a hamster.

Dog show winners

There were 11 divisions in the dog show. Following are the winners:

Toy Division - adults, "Buddy," shown by Vicki Feldman. Puppies, "Gizmo" shown by Colton Isaacs.

Hounds Division - adults, "Sugar" shown by Kateri Dahl. There were no puppies.

Sport Division - adults, "Emerson" shown by Tammy Cothran. Puppies, "Geo" shown by Madelaine Nolan.

Hearding Division - adults, "Angel" shown by Ann Cothran. Puppies, "Kate" shown by Meagan Cole.

Non-sport Division - "Buddy" shown by Danielle Hinderer. There were no puppies.

Working Division - "Joji" shown by Joe Nutgrass. Puppies, "Tsunami" shown by Heather Nutgrass.

Mixed Breed Division - "Ollie" shown by Joe Nutgrass. There were no puppies.

Senior 4-H Division - "Angel" shown by Ann Cothran. Puppies, "Kate" shown by Meagan Cole.

Junior 4-H Division - "Sugar" shown by Kaiteri Dahl. Puppies, "Geo" shown by Madelaine Nolan.

Garrard County Only Division - "Buddy" shown by Vicki Feldman. Puppies, "Kate" shown by Meagan Cole.

Fun Division - two first place winners for best trick, "Grisley" shown by Heather Nutgrass, and "Bo" shown by Paula Tuggle. Most spots went to "Grisley" shown by Heather Nutgrass. Dress-up was won by "Pup" shown by Vickie Scott. Longest tail went to "Ollie" shown by Joe Nutgrass. Shortest tail went to "Grisley" shown by Heather Nutgrass.
