Let 'Joe' do his job

July 21, 2005

Dear Editor:

In response to a letter referring to "Joe," an inmate who works at the convenience center in Alum Springs, he doesn't go through anyone's garbage. He only places the garbage around in the dumpsters to make more room.

I have been up there several times to take my garbage and have heard people curse him because he asked if they lived in Boyle County when they had a different county license tag. He takes a lot of abuse from people.

I don't know him personally, but I do know he works hard there. He works out in the rain and snow. I wonder how many others would do that.

I believe with all my heart Joe is a good man. If he wanted to escape, he's had 19 months to do it. When it's busy up there, it's hard to get around to everyone to help them out. I'm not saying all inmates can be trusted, but if Joe wanted to escape, he's had a lot of time. I guess the ones that are complaining never made mistakes in their lives.

I have better things to do now than run people down. In God's eyes, we are no better than him. Judge not lest ye be judged. Jesus also said, "Those without sin cast the first stone." There's no one who is perfect.

So please mind your own business and let Joe do his job. He knows what his bosses want him to do.
