Hospital getting new paint job

July 22, 2005

Danville's downtown area is changing, with renovation now under way on the Hub building and a new paint job at the hospital.

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center also is sprucing up by painting the exterior of its north building. That section of the medical center is the older part of the building, and includes the McDowell annex that is located adjacent to the emergency department.

"We are looking forward to the changes that this painting project will make to the medical center as well as the downtown area," said Barry Michael.

"The new color scheme will complement the styles of other buildings in the downtown area."

The medical center has contracted with a company that is blasting and pressure washing the exterior of the building to prepare it for painting.

Once the cleaning is completed, new coats of paint will be applied to the exterior brick of the north building and the McDowell annex.

The brick exterior will be painted a taupe color while a topaz color applied to the exterior trim, keystones, frames, doors, columns and soldier bricks.

"Painting the hospital is not a simple project, but we anticipate that this project will enhance the looks of the medical center within the community," Michael said.
