Police conduct death investigation

HARRODSBURG - City police are investigating the death of Troy L. Smith, 46, of Boyle County.

His body was found at 8:30 a.m. Monday at 214 W. Office St., Apt. 2.

Mercer County Coroner C. David "Sonny" Ransdell said today that Smith's death appears to be from natural causes, but toxicology reports are pending.

Harrodsburg man held on sex charges

HARRODSBURG - Lyric Perkins, 29, is being held in the Boyle County Detention Center on numerous sex charges, according to jail Lt. Melissa Gross.

Brought to the jail on July 29, Perkins is charged with 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of first-degree sodomy and one count of assault.

Harrodsburg police have not issued a report on the incidents that led to his arrest.

Perkins' bond has been set at $100,000 cash, and he is ordered to stay away from his victims, Gross said.

Couple arrested, charged with assault

HARRODSBURG - Police responded to a 911 call at 10:54 a.m. Tuesday at 549 Linden Ave. and when they arrived, residents Leroy Taylor Jr. and his wife, Tonia Taylor, each accused the other of assault and both had minor injuries.

Both were taken into custody on fourth-degree assault charges and jailed in the Boyle County Detention Center. Tonia Taylor was found to possess a prescribed controlled substance not in the original container and was charged.

Leroy Taylor Jr. was released on 10 percent of $2,000 bond, and Tonia Taylor was released on 10 percent of $4,000 bond. They were ordered to stay away from each other.

Woman jailed on traffic violations

HARRODSBURG - City police responded to a non-injury traffic accident at 10:25 a.m. Saturday in the McDonald's parking lot.

While police were on their way, one of the parties involved in the accident, Marlene B. Hulse, of 247 Mercer Ave., formerly of Idaho, fled the scene.

Officers located her in the Bright Leaf area and arrested her on first offense driving under the influence of intoxicants and leaving the scene of an accident.

She pleaded guilty in court Tuesday and was released.
