Dear Editor:
It is with pleasure that I commend Boyle County Schools and the Danville Police Department for an excellent job this morning with the new traffic plan! I was so happy to see the police department helping with the first-day traffic. That, coupled with the new traffic lights that have been placed on Perryville Road and the bypass, made such a positive difference.
But those efforts might have been in vain if it had not been for the excellent planning and dedicated staff at the school. I cannot speak for the elementary/middle school loop, but at the high school, we were greeted by smiling faces directing parents and students to the appropriate loop. Staff members also cheerfully redirected confused parents and students who did not notice the "Buses Only" signs.
As a first-year parent of a high school student, I was nervous about my child's beginning at the high school in chaos and with no freshmen orientation. After seeing the effort put into helping the traffic this morning, my concerns were eased, as I was confident that if they put that much effort into orienting parents and students into a new traffic pattern, they surely would put equal effort into helping orient the freshmen.
