New bids sought for bridge reconstruction

LANCASTER - Garrard Fiscal Court on Tuesday rejected recent bids for bridge reconstruction at the end of Nina Ridge Road.

According to County Attorney Jeff Moss, the bids that were received were in conformance to the bid specifications that were issued. However, the bid specs were insufficient to comply with the agreement between the county and the state Department of Transportation.

"If we had let the bid go to the low bidder, who did not include a bond, the state would not have repaid the county for the bridge work," Moss said.

The project will be re-advertised, and bids will be received at the next meeting.
