MUSIC

First Baptist Church on Walnut Street - 4 p.m. on Sept. 11, the Danville-Boyle County NAACP will have a Gospel Extravaganza. The service is open to the public.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

86th General Assembly of Church of God of America - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sept. 11 at 449 W. Martin Luther King Boulevard. Speakers will be: Wednesday, Greg Chaney; Thursday, Paul Hardin; Friday, Tim Napier; Saturday, Clay Beasley; and Sunday, George Alexander.

SPECIAL SERVICES

First Baptist Church at Davistown - 11:30 a.m. Sunday, homecoming will be observed with Amos Mason of Bethany Baptist Church as the morning speaker . The Rev. John C. Lee Jr. of Greater Liberty Baptist Church in Lexington will speak at 3:30 p.m. A dinner will be served after morning services. The church is on Ky. 34 in Lancaster.

Immanuel Baptist Church - 11 a.m. Sept. 11, a special service to honor heroes in Boyle and Mercer counties, including service men and women, firemen, policemen, emergency services, medical professionals and their families. George Friendnerd will speak. At 1 p.m. lunch will be served, followed by a special recognition service and activities for the family. For more information, call the church at (859) 236-5073.

St. Peter AME Church - 11 a.m. Sunday, Pastor's Appreciation Day will be observed. Guests will be the Rev. Everhart Walker and congregation of Allen Chapel AME Church in Moreland. The Rev. Ralph B. Smith is pastor.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church - 10:30 a.m. Sept. 11, homecoming begins with special music and worship services. A potluck dinner will follow the worship. The church is at 1515 Logan Road in Gravel Switch.

Pleasant Valley Baptist Church - 11:45 a.m. Sunday, the church will observe its 140th homecoming. The speaker will be the Rev. Mark Logan. Dinner will be served after the morning service, and the afternoon worship begins at 3:45 p.m. Special guest speaker will be the Rev. Wendell Hunn Jr. and the congregation of First Baptist Church in Springfield will be guests. Robert Brown is the pastor.
