Butchertown plans 19th Country Day fest

September 07, 2005|BRENDA S. EDWARDS

BUTCHERTOWN - The annual Country Day will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Butchertown Community Center.

The annual northern Casey County festival is free and features a country store, yard sale, auction, and contests and games for all ages.

Proceeds will go to the community center for upkeep, maintenance and projects, said Rita Stewart, one of the organizers. Plans for the near future include adding a porch across the back of the center and a new vent inside the building for better air circulation, plus purchasing new tables.

"This is our 19th year for the Country Day," she said. "It's always a busy day."

Volunteers do the work and also have clean-up projects and other things to help the community, she said.

Souls Renewed will play music throughout the day Saturday.

The center is booked from mid-May to mid-September for family reunions and gatherings, and some families use it for Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers.
