Free prostate cancer screenings offered

Free screenings for prostate cancer will be offered Sept. 19-23 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

The screenings are sponsored by Central Kentucky Cancer Program, in partnership with Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation.

Appointments can be scheduled now.

Junction City church youth to host car wash

JUNCTION CITY - Junction City First Christian Church youth group will sponsor a car wash from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Benefits will go to the American Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. For more information, call Anne Cloyd (859) 854-3519.

Church to sell food Friday

Chicken and fish dinners, and baked goods, will be for sale beginning at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James AME Church, 124 E. Walnut St. For delivery and to place orders, call (859) 236-3241.

Merrcer Habitat to host dinner

HARRODSBURG - Habitat for Humanity Mercer County will have a dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Harrodsburg High School cafeteria.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. A donation will be accepted for children under 6. Dinner will be donated by Family Affair Caterers and local supermarkets.

Masonic Lodge plans fish fry

Franklin Lodge 28 F&AM will have its annual fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Hall, 400 N. Fourth St.

The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Family reunion planned Saturday

The Falconberry and Hasty family reunion will be Saturday at Logan-Hubble Memorial Park, Shelter 1. A potluck meal will be served at 1 p.m. For information, call (606) 365-2316.

Junction City Council - 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall to discuss a zone change request, financing of cruisers, hiring another police officer, closing an alleyway, amending the budget, adopting planning and zoning goals and objectives, fire school request, resolution to support Interstate project and blacktop projects on city streets.

Lincoln County Board of Education - 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Central Office board room. The agenda includes update on building project; discuss budgets, purchases, facility requests, grants, personnel, policies, master schedules and computers; appoint treasurer; and hold executive session to discuss student contracts.
