Uproar over state hiring ridiculous

September 08, 2005

Dear Editor:

I find all of the uproar over Governor Fletcher's hiring practices ridiculous. For at least 80 percent of any adult person's life, Republicans have been mostly excluded from state jobs in Kentucky. As a longtime subscriber to The Advocate-Messenger, I cannot once remember (letter writer) Ken Griffin bemoaning that fact. A portion of Republicans' state taxes even went to pay Kentucky state employees to go to the polls and, presumably, vote against Republican candidates. Again, no gnashing of teeth from Mr. Griffin. Now political hacks are using the state legal system, trying to force Republicans to hire Democrats. It's hypocritical and ridiculous.
