Lift your spirits with theater

September 09, 2005

Dear Editor:

Times are tough. We are saturated with bad news at every turn. It can become discouraging and depressing. As we each find our own way to "rise above" and to escape for short periods of time (in between our efforts to give and help those less fortunate), let's not forget to lift ourselves, if we can. We have a great two-hour "lifting-up escape" at our disposal through our local community theaters.

Laughter is so theraputic, and laughs abound this weekend and next at West T. Hill Community Theatre and Ragged Edge Community Theatre. The old chesnut, "You Can't Take It With You," and an innovative, hysterical new comedy, "We've Been Friends Forever," will take to each respective stage beginning today.

God gave us the Arts for a reason - explore some soon and you'll feel better. Things won't change because you spent two hours in the theater. But it will motivate you, and sometimes that is just what the human spirit needs!
