Lebanon's Ham Days begins today

September 23, 2005

LEBANON - Marion County will host Country Ham Days today through Sunday.

One of the largest community festivals in Kentucky, Country Ham Days was first celebrated in 1970 with six hams and a handful of visitors.

More than 600 hams are now needed to serve the approximately 50,000 visitors who descend on Lebanon during the last week in September for the celebration.

Besides a country ham breakfast under a tent with all the "fixins," Ham Days features the PIGasus Parade, street dance, contests, live entertainment, carnival rides, climbing wall, car, truck and motorcycle show, arts and crafts and flea market, 5K Pokey Pig Run, and other events.
