BARDSTOWN - The Boyle County boys won the Nelson County Hillbilly Run Saturday, placing two runners in the top five to defeat Nelson County and Pleasure Ridge Park by 13 points.
Sam Morgan finished third and John Anderson was fifth for Boyle, which scored 88 points.
Kelly Jameson earned a second-place finish for the Boyle County girls, who were third out of four teams.
Morgan ran the 3.1-mile course at Hillbilly Heaven in 16 minutes, 46 seconds, finishing 13 seconds behind winner Chris Kitchens of Doss. Anderson had a time of 17:17.
"I was really glad for our boys team. They have been working hard all season, and today it paid off," Boyle coach Joni Morgan said. "It takes five to score in cross country, and Jonathan Crowe, Blake Hendricks and Herbie Lynn were who we were counting on to have good runs."
Jameson ran her race in 20:27, finishing 1:22 behind winner Brittney Chesser of Seneca and leading three Boyle girls in the top 10. Trish Bredar was fifth in 21:01, and Kelsey Barbato was seventh in 21:09.
