Hill ties for 21st at state tourney

LEDBETTER - Christina Hill of Danville finished in a tie for 21st place at the Girls State Golf Tournament after shooting a final-round 83 Wednesday.

Hill shot 160 in the 36-hole tournament at Drake Creek Golf Club, leaving her 15 strokes off the lead.

Her second-round scorecard included birdies on the eighth, 13th and 17th holes, as well as five bogeys and a triple-bogey.

Candice Wiley of Shelby County and Karisa Akin of Central Hardin tied at 1-over-par 145, and Wiley won the championship on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff. Central Hardin won the team title.

Lincoln Nevels of Lincoln County was to tee off this afternoon in the first round of the Boys State Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Paducah.
