Three Danville runners finish 50-mile race

November 23, 2005

Three Danville runners were among the 951 who finished the JFK 50 Miler Run Saturday in Maryland.

"The race starts with about 15 miles along the Appalachian Trail and then proceeds along a towpath for 27 miles before ending on eight miles of roads," said David Anderson. "There were over 1,300 entrants."

Anderson, 41, finished the race in 9 hours, 47 minutes, 37 seconds. Ernst Crown-Weber, 50, completed the course in 10:54:35 and Daniel Wells, 58, finished his run in 12:32:45.

"The Danville running community has a designation of 'running saints" for those who run over 50 miles after their 50th birthday. Danville Bike and Footwear owner Ernst Crown-Weber was hereby inducted into that group. Dan Wells has run 50 previously, and I don't qualify since I'm not yet of age," Anderson said.
