December 01, 2005

Lincoln County basketball alum Rebecca May is off to a strong start in her junior season at Berea College.

May, a 5'9 guard, led the Lady Mountaineers in a 57-point victory at the Seabury Center in Berea scoring a game-high 21 points and followed with a 15-point effort in a win over Savanah Tuesday night.

May, who holds the Berea school record for most points scored in a season (489), most three-point goals in a season (80) and is tied for the record of most three-point goals in a game (8), almost equaled her record eight three-point goals tallying seven from behind the arc in a 134-77 win over Temple Baptist.

But it was her 15-point performance in the Lady Mountaineers' 95-73 win over Savanah that catapulted her into an elite group of athletes at Berea. The 15-point night, which included 12 points from three-point land, pushed May into the 1,000-point Club.
