Chester Kenneth Garris, 68, of Stanford, formerly of Birdseye, IN., died Sunday, Jan. 15 at his home.
A native of Elmira, NY., he was born April 14, 1936 to the late Stanton Jay Garris and Elizabeth Slocum Garris. He was a truck driver for Pegasus Transportation in Louisville, retired from the Naval Ordanace, and a 32nd degree Mason with Masonic Post #60 in Stanford.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Garris of Eubank and Darrin Garris of Waynesburg; two daughters, Tarry Patterson of Stanford and Crystal Brown of Waynesburg; two brothers, Clayton Garris of Anderson Co., TN., and Donnie Garris of Elmira, NY.; two sisters, Marilyn Huffman of Louisville and Frances Ducker of Melbourne, FL.; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Rev. David Gambrel officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
