Danville man indicted for assault at Kroger

A Danville man was indicted by a Boyle County grand jury for first-degree robbery for allegedly punching out the manager of Kroger last month while fleeing the store with merchandise for which he hadn't paid.

Jeffrey Allen Alcorn, 23, of 3551 Holtzclaw St., Apt. 22, was also charged with drug trafficking and other charges stemming from an arrest on Christmas Eve.

According to the indictment, Alcorn caused physical injury to Kroger manager Jeff Cuddy on Feb. 20, when Cuddy tried to stop him from leaving the store with about $100 worth of merchandise. Alcorn fled the scene on foot through a field behind Kroger and might have been picked up by an accomplice, police said.

The other charges, stemming from Dec. 24, are trafficking in cocaine; possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia; promoting contraband at the Boyle County Detention Center; driving on suspended license; and careless driving.

Bond was set at $25,000. Danville officers Jeff Stith and Derek Robbins testified.

Others indicted were:

* Phillip R. Bracy, 39, 114 Willow Creek Road, flagrant nonsupport for allegedly failing to pay child support for his minor son. Bond is $5,000. Connie Lynn testified.

* Jennifer Faith Black, 36, of Lexington, promoting contraband for allegedly possessing marijuana at Northpoint Training Center. M.C. Rogers testified.

* Tracy Byrd, 39, of Lancaster, tampering with physical evidence for allegedly destroying drugs. Bond is $5,000. Rogers testified.

* Lucio Luna Clemente, 24, Northpoint Training Center, promoting contraband for allegedly possessing marijuana at Northpoint Training Center. Bond is $5,000. Kentucky State Police Detective Monte Owens testified.

* Steven R. Cooley, 21, of Junction City, flagrant nonsupport for allegedly failing to pay child support for his minor son. Bond is $5,000. Sylvia Miller testified.

* Christopher A. Cornett, 22, 517 Seminole Trail, 14 counts of third-degree rape for allegedly having sex with a girl under the age of 16 in November and December. Bond is $25,000. Danville Detective Bob Williamson testified.

* Sean J. Ganem, 34, of 107 Hill-N-Dale Drive, flagrant nonsupport for allegedly failing to pay child support for his minor son. Bond is $5,000. Amy Glasscock testified.

* Rita Gilbert 40, of Junction City, six counts of second-degree forgery for allegedly possessing forged checks drawn on US Bank worth about $1,094, and theft by deception less than $300 for allegedly writing a worthless check to Peebles for $221. * Bryan Gooch, 22, 100 Winning Colors, possession of cocaine and marijuana. Danville officer Scott Cavazos testified.

* Joel C. Grey, 32, 511 Denmark Drive, flagrant nonsupport for allegedly failing to pay child support for his minor son. Bond is $5,000. Sharrona Ford testified.

* Sherry Herbert, 28, of Lancaster, unlawful access to a computer for allegedly attempting to defraud Chill's convenience stores. Bond is $10,000. Williamson testified.

* Leif Aaron Lawson, 25, 955 Alum Springs Road, 14 counts of second-degree forgery for allegedly possessing forged checks drawn on Knox Credit Union worth about $5,150, and fraudulent use of a credit card less than $100. Bond is $25,000. Boyle Deputy Jim Wilcher testified.

* Jerome Leon Penman, 37, of 597 Kings Mill Road, trafficking in cocaine, being a persistent felony offender, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Bond is $100,000. Commonwealth's Detective Cindy Corcoran testified.

* Jordan D. Pike, 23, 609 N. Third St., Apt. 2, three counts of first-degree arson for allegedly setting fire to apartment buildings in January and May, and to the Super 8 motel in May 2002. Bond is $60,000. Williamson testified.

* Tim Rodgers, of New Bedinger, Ohio, theft more than $300 for allegedly receiving more than $300 from William and Kelly Rankin for home remodeling that was not completed. Bond is $5,000. William Rankin testified.

* Shawn Edward Smith, 31, of Fort Wayne, Ind., flagrant nonsupport for allegedly failing to pay child support for his two minor children. Bond is $5,000. Eva Pollard testified.
