Martha "Mattie� Belle Newcomb, 70, of Stanford, died Saturday, March 4 at the Stanford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stanford.
A native of Rockcastle Co., she was born June 12, 1935 to the late Willie and Ritta Evans Newcomb. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Stanford and a former volunteer at the Stanford Attic.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Burnside of Lexington and Laura Burnside of Stanford; four sons, Eddie and James Burnside both of Stanford, Kerry Burnside of Richmond, and Scott Newcomb of West Virginia; one brother, Jimmy Newcomb of Lancaster; two sisters, Ruth Newcomb of Stanford and Carolyn Newcomb of Danville; 13 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 8 at the First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Raglin officiating. Burial was in Barrows Cemetery in Stanford.
