April 18, 2006

The Perryville Battlefield Preservation Association, a non-profit organization charged with preserving and interpreting Kentucky's largest Civil War battleground, announces the schedule for the inaugural General Lovell H. Rousseau Civil War Lecture Series for 2006. The Rousseau Series is co-sponsored by the PBPA, Boyle County Public Library, and Kentucky Historical Society. Noted speakers from the region and state will speak on a variety of Civil War-related topics.

The free lectures will be held on the third Thursday of each month through December at the Boyle County Public Library. Each event starts at 6:30 p.m.

The first lecture, to be held Thursday, will be presented by Nicky Hughes, editor of Civil War Historian magazine and supervisor of the Leslie Morris Civil War Park at Fort Hill in Frankfort. Hughes, a museum consultant who also is co-author of the two-volume series "Historical Images of Frankfort," will speak on "Kentucky in the Civil War - Always Grasping at Straws."

July 20: Kentucky's State Historian Dr. James Klotter

Aug. 17: Stuart Sanders of Kentucky Historical Society.
