Speed, wet roads lead to collision in Garrard Wednesday

May 11, 2006

MOUNT HEBRON - Kentucky State Police say excessive speed and wet roads were contributing factors in an injury collision just before 1 p.m. Wednesday about 8 miles north of Lancaster.

Christopher Meece, 19, of Nicholasville, was traveling west on Ky. 1355 (Mount Hebron Road) and police say he traveled over the center line in a curve, striking an oncoming vehicle on its driver side front bumper area.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, Seth Mulcahy, 17, also of Nicholasville, sustained multiple injuries, and police say his 1995 Buick Century was severely damaged in the front end.

Two passengers traveling with Meece, Tamitha Hall, 22, of Nicholasville, and Gregory Crowe, 19, of Lancaster also were injured. Hall received multiple injuries, police say, while Crowe had a facial injury.

All were transported by a Garrard County ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Meece, Hall and Crowe were listed as not wearing seat belts.

Meece was charged with failure to produce an insurance card and not having a driver's license.

Trooper Eric C. Taylor was the responding officer.
